UB School of Social Work International Film Festival: "Immigration & Human Rights": Film Screening of "Which Way Home" and conversation with Human Rights Advocate Reverend William L. Wipfler, PhD

Share

Please join us in viewing a documentary that follows unaccompanied child migrants as they journey through Mexico on a freight train en route to the U.S. border. The film shows the risks some youth are taking for a chance to live in the U.S. despite many warnings and dangerous first-hand experiences.

Dr. Wipfler has spent 60 years advocating for human rights throughout the world, especially in Central and South America. He has received numerous awards for his efforts and made a significant, lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities at home and abroad. Dr. Wipfler will foster conversation that challenges us to see these issues through a new lens. This provocative discussion will include the following topics:

  • Socioeconomic and political conditions leading to migration
  • The current U.S. administration’s immigration policies
  • The real impact of immigrants on the U.S. economy
  • Experiences of immigrants in the U.S.
